Our Mission in Nicaragua
From the 1990’s to 2009, Bob & Barbara Kelly served as missionaries to Central America and served as pastors of a Spanish-speaking congregation in Texas. In 2010, Bob & Barbara Kelly left Plano, Texas to serve in Nicaragua in the small community of Nueva Guinea,5 hours from Managua. They founded Colegio Cristiano Manto de Gracia, an elementary school with preschool, first, and second grades. Each year since, they’ve added a grade every year and are planning their first high school graduation in 2020. Their program helps develop a student’s passion for reading including the establishment of a lending library; a music program, a hands-on science lab, and English classes to foster bilingual skills. In the summer of 2007, Zoya sponsored a weeklong medical clinic, and it was then we realized that we needed to support the medical care for the needy in Nueva Guinea in addition to our support of the school.
